We have a couple of "coffee table" books from a trip we took to Maine,a gold bowl with etchings from Pier 1,a blue bud vase with wisteria stems and a couple of Food and Wine magazines. But I'll tell you the coolest thing i've seen lately and I'm getting it when I find it in a store: a large sea shell ,the one that is pearly white and coral inside.Man,it can stand on it's own!Add a beach book or two and you are good to go.

My "used to be" coffee table,,,(Now my ex's) is a slab of slate, about 2 inches thick, roughly shaped, approximately 2' by 3' sitting on a large flat top stone.

On it there is a "KNOT" from a piece of driftwood that happens to sit flat with a bowl effect in the middle, large enough for a TOWER candle.

Objects on the table include one of my fave books,,,LIKELY STILL AVAILABLE? "Found Objects"

Sorrounding the Candle KNOT are various gem stones and pieces of rock I collected from around the world travels.

"Natural" always worked best for me.

We have artificial flowers as our centerpiece, along with millions of magazines strewn everywhere. But if you can unearth the magazines, you'll find many pictures through our glass coffee table: they include pictures of my parents with some famous singers and such. Boring, but - hey you asked!

That's a neat question! I like it! In the family room, there's a fancy chess game (my husband loves playing chess). In the living room (I call it the hoity-toity room because of all the fancy, breakable stuff in there) there's a small Thomas Kinkade lighthouse on it.
